Charming villages and relaxing places

Staying in Bormes-les-Mimosas is an ideal opportunity to visit other places in Provence. As such, Camp du Domaine offers many excursions to unmissable places in the South of France! Here is a selection of our holidaymakers’ favourite destinations during their stay in Bormes-les-Mimosas, less than one hour away by car.

If you like shopping, head for Toulon where you will find plenty of shops and commercial centres with all your favourite fashion brands!

Le Lavandou

Le Lavandou is a fishing village based at the foot of the Maures Massif, attracting many tourists every year. Very pleasant to walk round, it is also a renowned seaside resort, famous for its 12-kilometre coastline with no less than 12 sandy beaches. Do not miss:

  • The Saint-Louis church, built from 1855
  • The castle, an emblematic symbol of Le Lavandou
  • The « pescadous », the fishermen of Le Lavandou, who return to the port, loaded with fish every morning
  • The three chapels that tell the story of Le Lavandou
  • The Cap Nègre, at the Pointe du Lavandou
  • The market, every Thursday, avenue Vincent Auriol
  • The beautiful gardens and fountains of Le Lavandou
  • The chemin des douaniers, towards the East, in the Baie de Cavalière

Useful! Le Lavandou is only 4 kilometres away from the Camp du Domaine campsite.

Cavalaire-sur-Mer

Pretty seaside resort surrounded by a cirque of wooded hills, Cavalaire-sur-Mer is a pleasant place to stroll around. Among the must-see places in Cavalaire-sur-Mer:

  • The weekly Provençal market (on Wednesdays)
  • The fish market, with daily arrivals
  • The casino, on the port
  • The archaeological area
  • The landing stela on the De Lattre de Tassigny area
  • The discovery of the calanques (rocky creeks) and seabed in a seascope (transparent bottom boat)

Useful! Cavalaire-sur-Mer is approximately 15 kilometres away from the Camp du Domaine campsite.

Collobrières

The capital of chestnuts is awaiting you in the heart of the Maures forest 15 kilometres only from Bormes-les-Mimosas.
Collobrières is labelled « village of character in the Var », in the same way as seven other places: Aups, Bargème, Cotignac, La Cadière-D’azur, Le Castellet, Mons and Saint-Martin-De Pallières. Do not miss:

  • Its pretty squares, such as the Place de la Libération, in front of the town hall, built during the second half of the 19th century;
  • The Place Rouget de l’Isle and its 24-meter deep well;
  • The Montesquieu street;
  • The « promenoir » on Boulevard Carnot;
  • The Collobrières market, every Thursday and Sunday morning.

Useful! If you’re staying at Camp du Domaine in October, we recommend you go to the chestnut festival in Collobrières, the last three Sundays in October.

Ramatuelle

Famous medieval village built on the hillside, Ramatuelle is very picturesque. It overlooks the famous bay of Pampelonne with its famous beach of fine sand that goes on for five kilometres. If you’re lucky enough to go to Ramatuelle, about 30 kilometres from Bormes-les-Mimosas, here are some places you must visit:

  • The streets of Ramatuelle, the Saracen gate and the bread ovens
  • The seigniorial house
  • The old cemetery
  • The Camarat lighthouse
  • The coastal trail

Useful! Do not miss the Ramatuelle Festival in July and August. A unique place where theatre, classical music, pop music and jazz get together.

Port-Grimaud

A little less than 40 kilometres from the campsite, stop at Port-Grimaud, a lake town nicknamed “Provençal Venice”, in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Its unique architecture earned it, in 2002, the opportunity to be listed as part of the 20th century heritage. Stroll in Port-Grimaud, taking the time to view:

  • Its pedestrian ways and its canals
  • Its little restaurants along the water
  • Its bridges and superb views

Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez is an essential destination for all those who come to the South of France. Its setting makes it a destination of choice for many stars that you may come across around a corner on one of the alleys in town… who knows! Once there, do not miss:

  • The famous Saint-Tropez port
  • The Place des Lices market
  • The Saint-Tropez Citadelle
  • The museum of gendarmerie and cinema
  • The beautiful white sandy beaches

Fréjus

Fréjus is an ancient Roman city, founded in 49 BC. It contains historical treasures and an important military heritage. Today, Fréjus is also one of the most beautiful artistic cities in the South of France. In Fréjus, we suggest you visit:

  • The arenas (next to the station), the Roman theatre (in the centre of town) and the aqueduct (avenue XVe corps), left by the Romans
  • The Episcopal group, around the Sainte-Léonce cathedral and its square tower
  • The « Circuit des Métiers d’Art », in the pedestrian streets near the cloister

Porquerolles

Porquerolles is one of the three “Iles d’Or” that you must visit absolutely during your stay at Camp du Domaine. It’s only 10 minutes away from Gien and can be visited by bike or by foot.

Porquerolles is surprising: it has two very different sides: the south, with beautiful cliffs and calanques (rocky creeks) and the north, with gorgeous fine sandy beaches, turquoise water and an amazingly rich flora.

« Aqualand » water park

A water park where you will find many games and water activities for adults and children.

Useful! There are several Aqualand water parks on the Côte d’Azur: Fréjus, Sainte-Maxime, St-Cyr-sur-Mer.

« OK Corral » amusement park

This is the largest amusement park in the south of France. It mixes thrilling rides and daily shows. Enjoy the adrenaline rush and the scenery, reminiscent of the Far West!

Useful! OK Corral is in Cuges-les-pins, 74 kilometres from Bormes-les-Mimosas.

Dolce Frégate golf course

Golf lovers: head for St-Cyr-sur-Mer at the Dolce Frégate golf course. A magnificent golf course located at the foot of the vineyards, facing the Mediterranean Sea, offering a superb view in places.

Useful! The Dolce Frégate golf course is 63 kilometres away from Bormes-les-Mimosas.
